Magical Lantern Festival: Illuminate the Holiday Season


It is that time of the year again. The Chinese Lantern Festival comes to London once more turning Chiswick House into a magical wonderland – full of dazzling lights, rich and vibrant colors. The Magical Lantern Festival is a celebration marking the end of Chinese New Year. But this year, it comes back bigger and better. The theme last year is Silk Road. It is a series of trade route established during the Han Dynasty of China linking the east to the western world. Colorful scenes from Central Asia, Middle East, India and other Chinese voyages full of life-size and larger-than-life size lanterns in all shapes and form that were illuminating the place. But that is not all there is to it. They also feature other things in this Magical Lantern Festival. They made a 15-meter wide lantern version of the House of Parliament including the clock tower – Big Ben. There is also a 600-meter-square ice rink with the backdrop of colorful lanterns, perfect for visitors who want to have something else to do outdoors. Visitors can do also other things indoors. They offer virtual reality activities whether running with dinosaurs or riding a roller coaster, surely everybody will have fun.
And if visitors get tired with all of that, there is still that pop-up ice lounge with a real ice bar, courtesy of Eis Haus. Yes, the bar is entirely made of ice, even the shot glass they use. The place is filled with festival themed ice sculptures as well as artic animals. There is also a place to eat if you got hungry with all of that. Visitors can have Cattle-Axe steak sandwiches, Japanese street food from Notso, Alpine cheese dreams from Le Rac Shack and smoked delights from SmokoLoko.
